Cambie Homes for Sale
Nestled near the scenic Queen Elizabeth Park is Cambie Village, replete with restaurants, coffee shop and bars, a deceivingly quiet community with a sophisticated, understated appeal. A short trip down Cambie lies Olympic Village, attracting cyclists, strollers, and those who appreciate patios and fine cocktails. It's a hop away from a Canada Line Subway Station, a skip across the water to Yaletown and English Bay and a jump on a bicycle to Granville Island.
The District of South Vancouver, incorporated in 1891, originally encompassed nearly all the lands south from 16th Avenue - the Southern City boundary of Vancouver to the Fraser River, from the straight of Georgia to today's Burnaby border. At the time it was mostly agricultural land with scattering of small Villages.
The district was also an important transportation corridor, Kingsway follows the route of the old military trail that connected New Westminster with Burrard Inlet as a defence against the threat of American invasion. Today South Vancouver remains dominated by single-family housing, although that has changed in recent years in response to drive densification.
